Evolve Costa Rica Surf Camp
Is your closest body of water one of those lakes with soft mushy muck at the bottom that makes you scream when you step in it?
If you're 14+ years old (sorry thirteen-year-olds, but call us in a year!) and want to learn to surf or polish up your surfing skills, Evolve Surf Camp will be a sick experience. We'll have you surfing in warm Pacific waves with the lush Costa Rican rainforest as your backdrop. It's all non-competitive, so it's okay if you spend more time falling off than staying on. Ain't no shame!
When you aren't surfing, you'll be mountain biking, whitewater rafting, ziplining and more with your new friends from all over the world.
July 9-22, 2013
Day 1: Touch Down
We'll meet at the San Jose Airport, run dramatically into each other's arms, and then transfer to the town of Hermosa.
Day 2-5: Hermosa
We'll hit the beach right away. Coaches will sort you into groups by ability, so that you don't have to stare resentfully at that guy who thinks he's so good. (Don't worry: the groups are flexible, and as you hone your skills we'll make you're schwooped into the right group with the right instructor. Schwooping is what we do best.) We'll have fun lessons in the morning, followed by free time to hang out in the town, lounge by the pool or go zip-lining. Then it's back to the beach for your afternoon surf session. During this leg of the journey we'll also go whitewater rafting on Class II-IV rapids (that's rapids-speak for "varying levels of ridicudonk awesome") and help out at a local school.
Day 6: Travel
Today we'll head by ferry to the beautiful town of Santa Teresa, the holy grail of surfing. It's a more secluded area, so if you were becoming a famous legend in Hermosa you may want to head back.
Day 7-12: The Nicoya
This is the part of the trip you'll tell your grandkids about in your old age. Why? Because you'll be having the most epic surf of your life. Waves that break left, point breaks, barrels and more - and when the waves aren't breaking, you'll take a high speed boat ride over to a secluded island , go snorkelling, hiking, mountain-biking in the jungle, or just chill by the pool.
Day 13 - San Jose
We'll make a pit stop at the Britt Coffee Plantation for a world class coffee tour, so you'll be totally prepared to school the next Starbucks barista who gets snobby about coffee. Then we'll have a last hurrah in San Jose - including a complete walking tour of the Central Market and Avenida Central. We'll buy Costa Rican crafts and gifts to make our soul-suckingly jealous friends back home feel slightly better about their inferior summers, and then we'll have our last dinner and say goodbyes. On Day 14, we head home.
