ALWAYS PICK THE STEW
When you think of airplane food you do not normally think of all the thought and planning that needs to go into it…
Millions of people worldwide use airplane transportation to get to their desired location. In order to accommodate the needs of their passengers, airlines provide meals to them, especially on long hauls. For large airlines like Dragon Air, British Airways, and United Airlines over 30,000 meals are provided daily. Airplane food is either hit or miss. It can be good or completely awful depending on your tastes. Food safety is a major concern for the airline. It has to be 100% safe in order to avoid a lawsuit. The taste of the food needs to be consistent with all of the meals that are served. In order for the food to be safe it needs to be bland. You can not serve rare beef or foie gras on a flight. It needs to be easily recognizable to the passenger. It will also save the flight attendant time in explaining what each meal is. The meals are planned out a year a head of time. If something goes wrong with that meal than the process starts again. Meals are basic in order to cut down on the allergies people might have to certain ingredients.
It is difficult to address everyone’s needs on a flight. Especially with how multicultural the world is. The Middle East, Japan, and China are the most difficult to accommodate. Where as Australia and the United States are the easiest. As you can imagine, serving food on an airplane can sometimes be difficult. There is little space to work in and if turbulence occurs than the food can get left in the over too long. Food can get dried out quickly and some food reheats better than others. That is why stew is always the best choice when you fly. You can reheat it several times and it is still stew. It does not get dried out nearly as bad as the other foods that are offered. Fish and rice comes into a close second. So when you take your next flight think about the planning and effort put into your meal and for the best satisfaction always pick stew.
